Despite the bad reviews I ordered it anyway. Bar tape is decent the rubber bar ends are garbage. They shouldn't have changed from cork. I would order again even with the rubber bar ends. This wrap is the best I have tried and way better than the synthetic foam that came with my bike. I have a Gary Fisher and while it is a nice bike, the handlebar wrap was not so great. This wrap is strong and feels like it will last for a long time. It also feels great on my hands. The one thing I will say, is that Brooks could do a better job showing people how to use the product. I watched videos on YouTube and they were helpful, but I still felt that a Brooks video would be best. For example, the tape I received has tapered ends on both ends, and the video I watched, it looked like the Brooks tape was not tapered on one end. This left me confused about how to deal with a taper at the start, which is at the end of the handle bar. As a result, It was a bit tough getting the length right, and the extra leather intended to fold in with the plug does not feel quite sufficient.Even a diagram on the box would have been nice in this regard. This is the 2nd time I've wrapped handlebars with leather. It can be difficult to do because the leather doesn't stretch much. So getting it to lay nice around a curve takes patience to get it right. You have to work slowly and put lots of tension on the strip as you wrap. But the results are worth it. I used it on my vintage Raleigh that also has a leather Brooks saddle. The bike loos great and feels good to ride. I didn't care for the look of the finishing tape so I did a traditional twine wrap to finish the job off.History inevitably repeats itself and this bar tape shows why the original is better than the current substitute. While not as padded as some tape, this stuff is great on my gravel bars and steel bike. It’s not light, but not heavy either. Looks are classic and beautiful, feels comfortable and has good grip with my leather gloves. Diggin itThis bar tape is wonderful! I am rough on my bike, and often I find my bar tape rips or peels up after a few months. Brooks bar tape is tough, when I wrapped it, I pulled it so tight I was worried I may tare, NOPE! It held tight. They even provide extra tape in the box if you need a little more, and very stylish fabric end tape to keep it all together and looking good.My ONLY issue is that I wish it were a little more cushy. Saying that, I know they offer gel padding you can wrap with the tape if you want, I chose not to get it. My hands aren't that sensitive to it, but if you find that you prefer extra padding, then get it when you buy this tape.Overall, this product is worth the money - its beautiful, tough, and incredibly hip. I love it.I ordered this bar tape twice from Amazon and was disappointed. Finally I contacted Brooks and they sent me bar tape that was the real deal. The stuff that Amazon was sending me is stiff, smooth, and waterproof (see second picture); it feels like vinyl. Each of the two strips is actually three pieces glued together (you can see the obvious flap in the first picture where the piece is "fused" together). This is definitely not the Brooks quality I expected. I returned it hoping it to get some pieces that are a continuous piece or are fused better. But Amazon (a different seller mind you) sent me the same crap.I got the second set of bar tape that is still fused together but the seams are a lot more subtle. Still not really impressed by how it feels. Brooks said that it is really difficult to get pieces at the right length and that they have to fuse pieces in order to be efficient and environmentally conscious in order to prevent such wastage. I appreciate that. So Brooks sent me a third set of bar tape because I was unhappy. This bar tape directly from Brooks is way better than what I received from Amazon! It feels nice to grip, it looks like real leather (it has wrinkles and blemishes just like you would expect from real natural leather unlike the perfectly patterned stuff I got from Amazon). You can compare the two qualities in the third picture. They are obviously different. The last picture is just to show that the real leather from Brooks isn't slick but absorbs a bit of water like a real hide should.I can't believe all the gripping about quality. To those who found a mark or wrinkle, stick with plastic. This is a natural leather product that develops a wonderful patina and displays it's imperfections proudly.. On top of that, they match the color perfectly to my honey colored Brooks saddle. If you are old school, this is a must have. It is a little harder to work with but just take your time. The end plugs are now more durable but were oversized for my bars. No problem, I just filed them down to a perfect fit. By the way my wraps were perfect, bummer, miss a little imperfection here and thereI used this tape to wrap the top bar on my bike after it took a nasty spill and got rather dented/scratched.I got the antique brown to match my Brook's saddle and handlebar grips of the same color. It's worth noting that it isn't exactly the same color. The tape is a bit of a flatter and lighter brown while the saddle is more of a dark and almost deep red brown. However, I have noticed that as the tape accumulates oil and wear from use it is becoming darker and gaining a bit of character. So I wouldn't be surprised if it looks much closer to Brooks' usual antique brown after another few months.Overall very happy with the quality. It is Brooks, after all. There is very little to this bar tape- it's a strip of leather with weak, narrow double sided tape on the back. I found the leather was marginally too short for my bars, and also found that the adhesive tape comes off the leather way too easily and then will not restick. The fabric strips to finish the tape are too short and frankly look like sticking plasters after a few days of use. The rubber end stops are hard to get in and font hold the end of tape tucked in place very well at all.It looks and feels ok in use, but the entire product rather smells of Brooke's cashing in on their reputation with a poor quality product (which I believe is not manufactured by them) that retails at a pretty premium price.Disappointing.Super expensive, yes it’s the brand. Really hard to fit to bars, end plugs hard to keep snuggly secure. Has a tendency to grow mould (?) if you don’t dry it off after each wet / damp ride.Whilst the quality of the product is good, it is not as advertised. The first product I ordered came in a Honey Leather Bar Tape with Wood/Cork end plugs box, which is what I ordered, but inside was Brown Microfiber Bar Tape with Rubber end plugs. I contacted Amazon, who sent me a replacement with exactly the same results. I've now returned that one too and decided to go for Cinelli Imperial Bar Tape which is a bit more expensive, but hopefully more reliable. It's a shame, Brooks used to be a reliable and high quality brand...This was a treat to myself and I was very disappointed. Both bar ends the material was split and joined. Upon fixing it to the handle bar both sides therefore ripped and wouldn't have last ten minutes. Way overpriced for that quality. Also the cloth fixing tape wasn't sticky and was unpeeling within the week it took me to remove the bar tape.Plastic bungs rather than cork and the "leather" (seems to be re-fabricated) tape had a split in it. Poor quality, don't bother.
