Tape is exactly as described. Easy installation and great comfort.I've done one 84 mile ride since installing white Lizard Skins. It has a very "grippy" feel, it almost sticks to my hands. It takes some getting used to, but it's a good safety feature. I've nearly crashed in the past by hands slipping off the bars.It does provide a nice soft cushion-y feel. Part of my monthly ride in the roads of the Santa Monicas is along Yerba Buena Road, which is full of wide transverse cracks. On a fast descent the handlebars vibrate violently, kinda like holding a jackhammer. This tape definitely took the bite off the vibration. They look beautiful on the bike, with a slight glossy look.My problem with this tape is that there is not quite enough length provided. My handlebars probably take more tape than most bikes, with the low drops. But I'd think they would provide plenty of tape for all uses. Part of the problem is that the instructions say to not to stretch the tape while installing. Not stretching it at all is not possible, since you have to fit the tape to the contours of the handlebar. So I used the minimum stretching that I could, which contributed to the problem of insufficient length. The reason that I got this particular tape is that I was told that they are easier to keep clean than other tapes. That's important for me, since I use white tape, and in the past the white stuff gets grungy looking. After one ride, there is absolutely no staining. They look as good as when I installed them.September 2012Three months down the line, I have not experienced the problem "The Squirrel" has with cleaning. For me it cleans very nicely, much better than any of the porous tapes that I've used. One problem though is that it yellows over time with exposure to the elements. Not all that noticeable, but it's not the nice pure white shown in my photo. With colors other than white you might not notice this. Still like the "grippy" feel. Helps keep my hands on the bars when I hit an unexpected bump in the road. I consider this a good safety feature.Best tape money can buy, absolutely worth the costThis is the most expensive but also the best tape I have tried. I have tried fizik, cibelli, and others, and they have been good but this is the best. What sets this tape apart is that it is grippy without being sticky, even in the wet, feels good in the hand, and is super comfortable. No other tape I've tried has all these qualities together. Please note that the tape I got was the updated dsp bar tape with a different texture and screw-type plugs, both of which are positives.I would recommend the thickest 3.2mm version of the tape unless you have small hands or prefer super skinny bars. The thicker tape is much softer and feels way better but still has all the grip and control of the thinner tape. Please note that the instructions are super adamant about not stretching the tape. This is for good reason. If you stretch the tape a lot, then it will stress the outer skin and it will crack open after a few uses. This makes installation a little tricky. But you can still hold the tape tight and get a good solid wrap. You just have to spend a little more time and lay the tape correctly to make sure there is no bunching.I got these a few months back as a gift (I would have been hesitant about spending so much on tape) and just got around to wrapping my bars and put a few rides on them. So far, I have found them very comfortable.on my rides. Nice amount of padding, not too much, not too little. For those who ride sans gloves, this tape would be great. Since it's still pretty cold outside, so I don't know what the grip is like with the profuse sweating that accompanies hot, humid summer rides.Wrapping is pretty straight forward - like most tapes. The adhesive is just right - just a little tacky, not so strong that you can't unwrap/rewrap until you have it perfect. I deducted a star because I would have liked a little more length for the white part. It was easy to get a nice tight wrap with the blue, but I had to space out the wrapping a bit on the tops with the white. The tape has a slight give for minimal stretching, but you don't stretch it like cork tape. I would have preferred to add one more wrap around at the top, but I have just enough for the width of my hand to ride the tops. I have a size 44cm bar, probably the most common size, but if you have larger bars, this the dual color may not work for you. Also, I wrap my my hoods with a reverse figure 8 (I don't use those little tape pieces) and it helped eat up a little of the excess blue tape - this wrap style didn't affect the length of the white. Also, the finishing tape is blue - it's a little cheesy to have it blue-white-blue. I prefer electrical tape anyway.I wanted to install this myself. I was able to do so, but the instructions were very poor. YouTube was somewhat helpful.Have read a few reviews of different bar tape and went for this due to some good reviews.Upon receiving the bar tape I was a little unsure due to the finish and didn't really think it work that well. I am very pleasantly surprised that this bar tape is as good as they say.Fitting was simple enough, watched a video first, following the guide and fitting the bar tape is still in place and has performed well so far, even in the wet.Overall a very good bar tape and I would use it again, might not look grippy due to the finish but it sure is!!There is no way this product is any better, or worth any more, than a basic bar tape. Within 3 months of fitting (by a professional) it had worn through in 2 areas near the top bars. This was during dry riding, and being on an expensive road bike that I care for well, never lean against a wall and don’t abuse. Further wearing out continued until it became bare in places. I have now bought a cheap replacement, less than 1500 miles later. Hugely disappointed, feel like I was hoodwinked by a brand name.Nice, but very pricey for handlebar tape. There was enough to do my bars, but nothing more... at this price, you'd think they wouldn't skimp on the quantity! I've since bought a budget tape for another bike and cant really notice the difference.Expensive stuff, but worth the money cos these grips are fabulous to holdUpdate (Jul-2019):I've had this on my bike for a year now and this tape needs to be replaced. The smallest knocks cause their skin to tear away so I now have large patches of white showing through the red. And the glue which hold them on the handlebars was never very good and I'm having to reposition the tape every couple of weeks. But still fabulous to hold.I like this stuff, I'm not the best at applying it but following the insructions on two occasions now some of the tape has slipped from the bar leaving a defect where the tape now pinches / looks a little ugly. Otherwise good tape and absorbs shocks nicely and good grip in the wet.
